Infusion pharmacy technicians maintain and improve people's health by providing services to patients who have conditions so severe they cannot be treated with oral medication.

Duties may include:

  • Receive, enter, process and maintain orders in the computer
  • Fill IV/Infusion prescription orders
  • Prepare infusion therapies
  • Prepare simple drug compounds after pharmacist has verified calculations
  • Clean all infusion pumps and equipment returned to pharmacy
  • Review expiration dates for all medications
  • Dispose of IV and related items returned to facility
  • Maintain compounding records, prescription logs and other files
