Community pharmacists-in-charge manage retail pharmacies and improve people's health by giving advice and information as well as supplying prescription medicines.

Duties may include:

  • Prescribe and dispense medicines
  • Ensure that treatments are compatible
  • Check dosage and ensure that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labeled
  • Instruct patients on the use of medicines and medical appliances
  • Supervise pharmacists, pharmacy techs, clerks and interns according to federal and state laws and company policies
  • Monitors staff performance, including conducting interviews, performance reviews and work accuracy
  • Establishes procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances and disposal of hazardous waste
